This Was a Man

MK were approached in July by theatre producer Samuel Julyan for PR support ahead of the opening night of his play This Was A Man.

The objective was to raise awareness of the production and support with ticket sales.

Written by Noel Coward in 1926 This Was A Man was immediately banned by the Lord Chamberlain for its irreverent treatment of adultery.
Samuel’s production, directed by theatre and television actress Belinda Lang, was the play’s first ever performance in the UK.

MK were asked to target Radio 4 and London listing sites, as these were most likely to draw in the audiences.

The team produced a press release, and contacted relevant media outlets across London.

Through this work MK secured an interview with Belinda on the Radio 4 Today programme, which welcomes over 7 million listeners every week.

Radio 4 Today also tweeted about the production and shared a link of Belinda’s interview with their 340,000 Twitter followers.

One post was re-tweeted 71 times and received 28 favourites.

The play was also listed on various London sites including the Visit London Guide and London Calling.

MK were pleased to learn from Samuel that the productions three week run sold out.
