Freelance Account Director

Deborah Hastie

Deb’s career began at the tender age of 16 when she first started working for her local newspaper followed by regional publications. Many by lines and thousands of column inches later she moved over to PR and had a swift baptism of fire working in the West Yorkshire Police press office. There was no crisis too big or small that didn’t end up on Deb’s desk and she covered everything from terrorist attacks to chemical spills, murders to Leeds United footballers getting themselves in trouble (regularly!).

From there she dipped her toe into marketing but after a couple of years realised she missed the hard news too much. She found a job working on one of the first big online news site for The Press Association and then went into PR agency work for a full 360º communications C.V! She worked her way up to become a Board Director at one of the UK’s largest independent PR agencies and stayed for a record-breaking eight years (record-breaking for her anyway).

Since 2008 and juggling a young family, Deb has consulted for a wide range of clients nationally including Rigby & Peller, David Wilson Homes and Mumtaz Foods among many, many others. She now works with MK she has gone full circle, bringing her right back to her reporter roots working with The Sheffield Star where she cut her teeth as a young journalist.
